Pinako Rockbell and her granddaughter Winry arrive to help the brothers. Winry, a biomechanical engineering prodigy, creates prosthetic limbs for Edward out of “automail,” a tough, versatile metal used in robots and combat armour. The Elric brothers set out on a journey to find the Philosopher’s Stone, a powerful gem that allows an alchemist to defy the traditional laws of Equivalent Exchange.
