Best Anime Where the MC is a God/Overpowered

10. Beelzebub

Ishiyama High School is a delinquent-dominated institution with a culture of constant violence and disorder. There is one unwritten rule, however: don’t cross first-year student Tatsumi Oga, Ishiyama’s most deadly fighter.

Oga is walking along a riverbed one day when he comes across a man floating down the river. The guy splits down the middle after being picked up by Oga, revealing a baby who crawls onto Oga’s back and immediately bonds with him. This infant is known as Kaiser de Emperana Beelzebub IV, or simply “Baby Beel”—the Demon Lord’s son!

Oga is confronted by Hildegard, Beel’s demon maid, as if discovering the future Lord of the Underworld wasn’t enough. They attempt to raise Baby Beel together, but being surrounded by juvenile delinquents and demonic powers may prove more difficult than they realize.

9. Campione!

The world’s gods are not myths or legends. They exist in the shadows, unseen by humanity, waging war and destroying land and life. People regard the battles of such “Heretic Gods” as incomprehensible natural disasters from which they cannot escape.

Godou Kusanagi, a sixteen-year-old high school student, travels to Italy at the request of his grandfather to return a tablet to a friend for safekeeping. Godou does not anticipate being dragged into a battle between two Heretic Gods alongside Erica Blandelli, a self-proclaimed witch fighting to protect humans. He kills the god of war and becomes a “Campione”—or “God Slayer”—tasked with fighting Heretic Gods in order to redeem humanity.

Godou’s new status as a Campione attracts a slew of Gods eager to fight him, as well as a swarm of fanatical followers, mostly women, eager to assist him in his battles. Campione!: From Matsurowanu Kamigami to Kamigoroshi no Maou, Godou battles deities in a Heaven-Earth battle.

8. Kamisama Kiss

Nanami Momozono, a high school student, has recently been dealing with a slew of issues, starting with her absentee father being so deeply in debt that they have lost everything. She comes across a man who is being bullied by a dog while he is homeless and destitute. After assisting him, she explains her situation, and to her surprise, he offers her his home in gratitude. She tries to flee when she realises her home is a dilapidated shrine, but she is apprehended by two shrine spirits and a fox familiar named Tomoe. They misidentify her with Mikage, the shrine’s land god, whom Nanami saved. Tomoe flees, refusing to serve a human after realising Mikage must have placed her there as a replacement deity.

Rather than returning to the streets, Nanami devotes herself to her spiritual responsibilities. But she’ll need the assistance of a certain fiery fox to keep things running smoothly. She gets herself into trouble in her bumbling attempt to find Tomoe and eventually signs a contract with him. Now that the two are god and familiar, they must travel the path of godhood together; however, it will not be easy, as new obstacles emerge, including a youkai who wants to consume the girl, a snake who wants to marry her, and Nanami’s own unexpected feelings for her new familiar.

7. Is it Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon?

Life is never dull in the bustling city of Orario, especially for Bell Cranel, a naive young man who aspires to be the best adventurer in the region. His dreams become a little more real after a chance meeting with the lonely goddess Hestia. Bell and her companions embark on a fantastic adventure deep beneath the city’s monster-infested dungeons known only as the “Dungeon.” In the vast depths of this terrifying labyrinth, death lurks around every corner, and a mysterious power glides among the shadows.

Even on the surface, survival is a hard-won privilege. Nothing is ever guaranteed in a world where gods and humans coexist, especially when they frequently clash. But one thing is certain: the story’s fearlessly optimistic protagonist will face a slew of failures, successes, and friendships.

6. One Punch Man

Saitama, who appears uninterested, has a unique hobby: he is a hero. For three years, Saitama worked tirelessly to pursue his childhood dream, losing all of his hair in the process. Saitama’s strength has increased to the point where he can defeat any opponent with a single punch. However, because no one can match his strength, Saitama has run into an unexpected problem: he can no longer enjoy the excitement of battle and has become extremely bored.

Genos, a 19-year-old cyborg who admires Saitama’s abilities and aspires to be Saitama’s student, notices him one day. Genos suggests that the two become members of the Hero Association in order to become certified heroes and be recognised for their outstanding contributions to society. Saitama agrees quickly, surprised that no one knows who he is. Saitama embarks on a new journey as a member of the Hero Association, meeting new allies and facing new opponents in order to relive the thrill of a fight.

5. Overlord

The popular virtual reality game Yggdrasil has come to an end. As the servers begin to shut down, Momonga, a powerful wizard and lord of the dark guild Ainz Ooal Gown, chooses to spend his final moments in the game. Despite the fact that it is twelve o’clock, Momonga remains fully conscious as his character, whereas the non-player characters appear to have developed their own identities!

When confronted with this unusual situation, Momonga directs his loyal servants to assist him in investigating and seizing control of this new world, in the hopes of determining what caused this development and if others are in the same situation.

4. Mob Psycho 100

Shigeo “Mob” Kageyama, an eighth-grader, discovered his natural psychic ability when he was very young. When he realises the danger in his abilities, however, the power quickly becomes a disadvantage. Mob’s main goal with his gift right now is to dazzle his long-time crush, Tsubomi, who quickly tyres of the same tricks.

Mob enlists under the wing of Arataka Reigen, a scam artist claiming to be a psychic who exploits Mob’s abilities for pocket change, in order to gain control of his abilities. Mob’s routine now includes command exorcisms of evil spirits. His psychic energy, on the other hand, is just the tip of the iceberg; if his enormous potential and unbridled emotions go insane, a cataclysmic event will occur, rendering him completely unrecognisable. Trying to stop the Mob’s detonation is pointless.

3. The Daily Life of the Immortal King

As a cultivating genius who has gained a new domain every two years since the age of a year, Wang Ling is a nearly invincible being with abilities far beyond his control. He’s sixteen now, and he’s about to face his most difficult challenge yet: Senior High School. His hopes for a low-key high school existence appear to be fading with each setback…

The characters in this anime are decent, and the audio is… odd at best, as it’s often not really ambient, which Japanese anime seem to do much better, but the animations are too beautiful, with some scenes looking specifically like they’re from a movie. Overall, it’s a good anime that you should definitely watch.

2. The Misfit of Demon King Academy

A long time ago, there was widespread chaos and bloodshed as a result of a war between humans and demons. Anos Voldigoad, the Demon King, willingly gave his life to end this seemingly endless conflict, hoping to be reborn in a peaceful future.

The demons established the Demon King Academy in preparation for Anos’ reawakening, an exclusive institution tasked with determining Anos’ identity. He reincarnates two millennia later, only to discover that the world’s magical resources have significantly depleted during his absence. Furthermore, when he enrols at the academy to reclaim his rightful place, he discovers that demonkind has a different memory of him. His personality, actions, and even legacy were all fabricated—all hidden behind an impostor’s mask. Because of this “lack” of common knowledge, he is the academy’s outlier—a misfit never seen before in history.

Despite these disadvantages, Anos is unconcerned. He sets out to find people who are changing his great past in order to persuade his descendants that their monarch has finally returned.

1. Noragami

If you look in the right place in times of need, you might come across an unusual phone number written in red. When you dial this number, a young man who introduces himself as the Yato God will greet you.

Yato is a minor god and self-proclaimed “Delivery God” who aspires to be worshipped by millions. His ambitions, however, are unlikely to be realised in the absence of a single shrine in his honor. His days are spent doing odd jobs for five yen until his weapon partner tyres of her useless master and abandons him.

Hiyori Iki, a middle school girl, allegedly saves Yato from a car accident by absorbing the impact for him just as things appear to be going south for the god. She survives, but the incident loosens her spirit, allowing it to leave her body. Hiyori demands that Yato return her to normalcy, but when she discovers that he will need to find a new partner, she reluctantly agrees to assist him in his search. With Hiyori’s assistance, Yato’s fortunes may be changing.

When Satoru awakens, he discovers that he has been reincarnated as a slimy goop in an unknown location. As a result, he gains new abilities, the most notable of which is the ability to swallow anything and mimic its appearance and characteristics. He then comes across Veldora, a Catastrophe-level monster who has been imprisoned for the previous 300 years for destroying a village. Satoru befriends him, sympathising with his predicament, and offers to help him break the seal.
